Emily Jansen, Writer/Director
Emily Jansen founded Bittersweet Productions after the death of her childhood friend, Christy Male. Emily has worked in documentary film as a producer, associate producer and researcher. Most recently she served as the primary archival researcher for Secrecy, a feature-length documentary which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Additional credits include documentaries for the History Channel, PBS, and numerous museum and educational programs. CROSSINGS is her first independent film. Emily has a BA in History from Denison University and earned an MA in Public History, with an emphasis on media and historical interpretation, from Northeastern University.

Cynthia Childs, Producer
Cynthia Childs is the co-founder of Bittersweet Productions
Cynthia started her career as a stage manager for theatrical productions and has worked on shows at the Los Angeles Opera, the Goodman Theater and for Walt Disney Theatricals. Cynthia graduated from DePaul University, with a BFA in Production Management. Currently a story producer for reality television, she has scripted episodes for numerous shows including Top Chef, Top Design, Trading Spouses and America’s Next Producer. Most recently, Cynthia was the lead story producer for the fourth season of the Emmy-nominated Project Runway and is thrilled to be working on the fifth season. Cynthia is also producing A Place to Live: The Story of Triangle Square, a documentary about the first affordable housing development for LGBT seniors in the entire nation. http://www.myspace.com/aplacetolivethemovie

Madeleine Schulman, Editor
Madeleine has been editing documentary and educational programs for more than a decade. Her most recent project involves editing a series of videos which are being used for teacher-training and distributed by the Department of Education in all 50 states. Her primary interest, however, lies in documentary film, and in creating powerful stories from compelling footage. Madeleine graduated from Smith College with a BA in both Government and Film Studies.
